THE MODEL, PLAINLY
Your account.
Your cloud.
No middleman.
ZEDFINITY is not a hosting service. It is an app that turns the Telegram cloud storage attached to your own account into a complete personal drive. Here is exactly how that works — and what it means for your privacy.
Step one: sign in with your own account
There is no ZEDFINITY registration. When you first open the app you sign in with a phone number and a verification code, or by scanning a QR code from the official Telegram app — the same flow as linking a new desktop device. If your Telegram account has two-step verification enabled, ZEDFINITY supports that too.
From that moment the app is a client for your account. It can only see what your account can see, and everything it does, it does as you.
Step two: files are encrypted on your device
With Vault encryption enabled, the encryption happens before anything leaves your device. The app derives strong encryption keys locally, seals each file, and only then uploads it. The keys are derived from secrets that stay on your device — they are never sent to Telegram, to ZEDFINITY, or anywhere else.
The result is that the stored bytes in your cloud are ciphertext. If someone gained access to your Telegram cloud storage — or to a message in it — they would find encrypted data without the means to read it. Decryption happens on your device, on demand, when you open or download a file.
ZEDFINITY uses XChaCha20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption from libsodium, an open-source, widely audited cryptographic library. The construction is public and documented; there is no proprietary crypto involved.
Step three: your files live in your own cloud
Encrypted or plain, uploads are stored in the Telegram cloud storage attached to your own account — the same storage that already holds your Saved Messages. Telegram provides this storage without a practical cap, which is why ZEDFINITY can honestly offer unlimited space without charging for it.
Large files are split into parts and reassembled on demand, so file size is not a practical limit either. Everything lives in a dedicated area of your account that ZEDFINITY keeps organized; your normal Telegram chats are untouched.
Step four: a local index keeps it fast
Browsing a cloud should feel instant, so ZEDFINITY maintains a local index on your device: file names, thumbnails, albums, durations and dimensions are cached locally as you use the app. That is why scrolling thousands of items is smooth and why your gallery appears immediately when you open the app — even before any network activity.
If you clear the app's data or sign in on a new device, the index rebuilds itself from your cloud: the app re-reads its own records and restores your library — names, thumbnails, albums — without downloading every file.
What "serverless" actually means here
ZEDFINITY has no servers of its own. There is no ZEDFINITY account to create, no ZEDFINITY database holding your catalog, no ZEDFINITY service sitting between you and your files. The app on your device talks directly to the storage attached to your account. If ZEDFINITY vanished from the internet tomorrow, every file you have stored would remain exactly where it is — in your own cloud.
This also defines what we cannot do: we cannot recover files for you if you delete them from your cloud and empty your Trash, we cannot reset your vault keys, and we cannot see your library. Independence cuts both ways, and we think that is the right trade.
How this compares to a traditional cloud
| Traditional cloud | ZEDFINITY | |
|---|---|---|
| Storage location | Vendor's servers | Your own Telegram cloud |
| Account | Vendor account required | Your existing Telegram account |
| Capacity | Tiered, paid upgrades | Unlimited (your account's storage) |
| Encryption | Varies; usually vendor-managed | On-device, zero-knowledge (Vault) |
| Monthly cost | Free tier + subscriptions | Free; donation-funded app |
| If vendor disappears | Depends on the vendor | Files remain in your own cloud |
Honest limits you should know
- You need a Telegram account — ZEDFINITY is a client for your account, not a replacement for it.
- Storage is subject to Telegram's own availability and terms of service.
- ZEDFINITY is an unofficial Telegram client and is not affiliated with Telegram FZ-LLC.
- Backups run while the app is open; there is no hidden background service.
- One account per app — it is built for a personal cloud, not for teams.
That is the whole model. If it sounds like the kind of simple, honest storage you want, download ZEDFINITY and try it — the free version is the full version.
